IFC, and the Graca Machel Trust are organizing an event focused on breaking down barriers to women’s entrepreneurial and professional growth and development. The evidence is clear: where women have equal access to the right tools and opportunities, they can be powerful drivers of change, innovation, and development. Fostering and supporting this change-making force is all of our responsibility and opportunity. This session will feature speakers who will share their research and experience on the barriers women face, and how to overcome them, and will culminate in a hands-on training on mediation, conflict resolution and networking, key skills for overcoming common professional barriers. The event will take place on June 17th, from 12:30-4.15pm, at the King Fahd hotel, and is designed for both women who are engaged in leadership, and their allies and supporters.
12:30-12:45pm: Introductions and objectives/aspirations.
12:45-1:15pm: Graca Machel Trust: Presentation on Growth Barriers for Women Entrepreneurs in East Africa (study)
1:15-1:45pm: Moderated fireside chat with 4-5 panelists representing corporate, entrepreneurial, social / cultural, NGO and international organization perspectives on women’s leadership and professional growth. Speakers will share their research / experience of the barriers women face and how to overcome them.
1:45 – 2:00pm Q&A and wrap up of session; key take homes (Moderator)
2-4pm: Masterclass on mediation, including skills building on active listening; conflict resolution in the workplace, collaborative problem solving and decision making; mediation as a tool; and networking. Lead by Gina Barbeiri, WB (on meditation and conflict resolution) and Moussoukoro Diop, IFC (on networking).
4-4.15pm: Wrap up and networking opportunity for all participants.
