IFC invites eligible “consultants” (independent consultants and/or individuals contracted through firms) to indicate their interest in providing services for the assignment described below. Consultants may bid on one or more of the selected Modules that comprise the Toolkit based on their area(s) of expertise and experience.
BACKGROUND
The consulting assignment will include the following components:
- Develop guidance and practical tools for companies for one or more of the six Modules that will comprise IFC’s Global Good Practice Toolkit. (See attached Flowchart)
- Review and provide expert input (as part of the Toolkit team) on materials drafted by other team members as part of the development of the overall Toolkit; and
- Participate as needed in two, 2-day workshops in Washington D.C. related to the development, peer review, and launch/dissemination of the Global Toolkit
The timeframe for this assignment is expected to be mid August-December 2008 and require between 10-25 working days (per module) for drafting, review and revisions depending on the level of guidance and number of tools needed for each. (Tools may include such items as: diagnostic questionnaires, surveys, sample templates and terms of reference, sample MOUs and RFPs, mapping and screening tools, checklists, project examples and/or lessons, methodologies, sample partnership agreements, flow charts, diagrams, etc.) 4 working days are expected for preparation and participation in each of the two workshops (one to be held in Spring 2009).
The assignment can be undertaken by a consultant or small team of consultants who will work under the direction of IFC staff. Candidates should have (i) specialized expertise and significant practical experience in at least 2 of the 6 technical areas comprising the Toolkit as well as working knowledge of the other Modules; (ii) private sector experience; and (iii) excellent writing skills. Prior experience developing guidance materials/tools for companies is an asset, as is experience in sectors broader than the extractive industries (e.g. agribusiness, forestry, general manufacturing, infrastructure, etc.)
