This guide outlines the use of Social Impact Assessments by the oil and gas industry. It provides managers of existing oil and gas operations or new projects with an understanding of how to make the best use of SIAs. This guide is not intended to be an in depth instruction on how to do SIAs. Nor is it a detailed resource for HSE experts.
Conducting SIAs is not always straightforward. However, if properly carried out, an SIA can assist in managing project budget and schedule, in supporting relationships with relevant stakeholders, and in building competitive advantage for a company.
