The Center for Development Support (CAD), a partner of the African Development Foundation (ADF) in Guinea has been retained as operator for the preparation, implementation and monitoring of activities co funded within the framework of the partnership. The Community Participatory Diagnosis (CPD) is part of the development and implementation of several initiatives.
• Initiative 1: ‘‘Community Development and Community Capacity Building’’- This initiative aims at promoting a sustainable community development which, in addition to basic social infrastructure, focuses on community capacity building, enabling and empowering ;
• Initiative 2: ‘‘Pastureland Development’’- This initiative aims to identify / validate temporary grazing areas to accommodate livestock affected by Global Alumina’s mining activities with a view to proposing cursory physical developments to receive about 3000 head of cattle.
• Initiative 3: ‘‘Awareness raising on HIV/AIDS’’ - This initiative aims at making communities aware of the AIDS issue with a view to proposing a community-based program for the sensitization of populations.
The Community Participatory Diagnosis which is the subject matter of this report is devoted to Initiative 1. It intends to be a useful additional and quite necessary exercise following the highly remarkable work done by the Sangaredi Global Alumina team on socio-economic survey on most of villages that are under the direct influence of the project area.
