The International Finance Corporation (IFC) and co-sponsors hosted an event for networking and knowledge sharing with mining community development practitioners following the CSR Forum at Mining INDABA. The event took place on February 9,2009 at the Marimba Restaurant in Cape Town, South Africa. Somit Varma, director of The Oil, Gas, and Mining Department at the IFC highlighted the importance of local community development in the extractive industry context.
